B. Balenciaga, created by Alexander Wang.
Alexander Wang is truly fashion’s wonder boy. Basking in the wild success of his collaboration with H&M (most of the collection is completely sold out), the designer has yet another exciting project up his sleeve. The Balenciaga creative director has released his first perfume under the fashion house, simply titled B. Balenciaga. The fragrance is beyond lovely, and able to make any woman feel as fabulous as an Alexander Wang outfit would.
“This was such an exciting project for me because it’s my first time working on a fragrance. It was important to capture the woman, the essence, the personality of B. Balenciaga,” Alexander Wang has said of his latest collaboration. Fresh and feminine, the perfume’s dominant note of lily of the valley is one of Alexander’s favorites. Paired with green edamame accord, an iris root and cedar wood heart scent is revealed, before drying down to final darker, cashmeran wood notes that make for a scent that is, in the words of Alexander, “timeless.” He elaborates, “I always like to juxtapose something feminine with something more masculine, so then cashmere and woods came into the conversation. And I respond very well to things that feel clean and crisp, so I felt that a green note was very important.”
Every aspect of the fragrance was intricately thought out, even down to the bottle’s frosted, crackled design, which came to be through Alexander’s desire to, “work around technically enhancing the bottle in some way that felt new and innovative.” Inspired by the marble tiling of Balenciaga’s original 10 Avenue George V Paris salon, the shape commands a six-sided architectural design, while the arch of the cap pays homage to the arches found in Balenciaga fashion and accessories. Everything about the fragrance pays homage to the fashion house’s classic heritage in a modern way, and needless to say, we’re obsessed.
