I’ve heard a lot about the BECCA Cosmetics ‘The One Perfecting Brush’. I’ve seen Instagrammers raving about it’s special size and shape, and it is meant to make contouring as simple as anything, so I definitely had a big urge to try it out for myself. Retailing at £40 its a little more pricey, but this brush is uniquely shaped and it is huge! It is advertised as a true beauty multi-tasker, so by theory worth the investment, as you’d be saving money on numerous face brushes.
I do actually like having a few (okay, loads) of make up brushes, as a make up artist it’s like an obsession and I can never have too many. Nonetheless; although this wasn’t the main reason I was drawn to it – this one-brush-does-all would be extremely appealing to a lot of people. It can be used with liquids, creams, powders and pretty much most products really.
As it is so large, it really speeds up the blending process! Literally covers my whole cheek in one swoop, it evenly covers large areas. It is best at giving a buffed out, diffused and airbrushed look. It’s streamline shape allows you to place products slightly in a more defined way for contouring but is still a softer effect than a smaller and denser brush. The non-porous, high-quality natural hair is super soft to the touch and allows product to sit on top of the bristles rather than absorbing, which ensures a flawless application and minimal wasted product too.
So, what is to good about it? Well after being able to try it out for myself, I can conclude that it really is a one-of-a-kind brush. I loved using it for the tutorial (see below) and I will continue to use it in my regime! I used it only for my liquids here; as using a wet or moist brush in your powders builds and clogs up your powders, (especially pressed) so if you are going to use it to the fullest for EVERY product, give it a wipe or clean first before dipping it into your powders.
It made contouring effortless; as you can see in the video. It took me about 5 mins to do everything here for a really natural contour that I do when I just want an easy-face day! Watch my little video to see just how simple it is, plus you get to see my makeup-less face…joy!
For care, make sure you wash your brushes often, and treat them as you would with your own hair. I like to condition my brushes after a wash, to keep the softness.
