Amongst the competition for the prestigious prize of the Palme d’Or is  The Neon Demon which details the experience of a model being the subject of obsession and exploitation in the fashion world and Julieta which is about the relationship between a mother and daughter.

Also in the mix is renowned duo directors Dardenne brothers with The Unknown Girl about a doctor who tries to identify a woman who died after being refused surgery, as well as much anticipated British director Auteur Ken Loach returning to Cannes after 10 years with I, Daniel Blake a story about a Carpenter’s altercations with state welfare after injuring himself.

The two films are set to have big theatrical releases as well.

While celebrities come far and wide in hopes to walk the Cannes red carpet, it is the judging panel that is the real honour. This year’s Jury is headed by Mad Max: Fury Road director George Miller. His crew of jurors includes a wide range of people from mainstream actors Kirsten Dunst and Donald Sutherland, as well as French singer and actress Vanessa Paradis, Italian actress Valeria Golino, and many more established acting and film directors. These gang of talents watch every single film that is in competition for the three main prizes of Palme d’Or, Grand Prix, and Prix du Jury.
