Harpers Bazaar have whipped out their talented team of hair stylists, make up artists, costume stylists, set designers, photographer; the whole shabang to bring us their special September Icons shoot.Modern-day stars have been transformed into history’s legendary icons, and photographed on intricate and narrative sets shot by Jean-Paul Goude and styled by Carine Roitfeld. Here are a few photos we loved from the issue, but visit the site for the full editorial to spot some more stars all dolled up as their icons..
Legendary French Photographer Jean-Paul Goude is well-known for his boundary pushing and thought-provoking work, some displaying quite controversial themes; as you will certainly remember the eyebrow-raising shoot with Kim K for Paper Magazine. Well this time, for Harpers Bazaar September issue he has truly captured the stars as their iconic characters, with every attention to detail and beautiful set design, and a theatrical mood throughout the shoot.

Katy Perry is transformed into Elizabeth Taylor, and the resemblance is uncanny. “I would say its a compliment to be compared to Elizabeth Taylor, says Perry. “She was so fabulous and decadent”.
The singer goes on to describe what makes an icon; “Iconic to me, is transcending time, but still very current, it still resonates with you, still makes sense, and still inspires you. I think that it’s a label that others must give you, and you may not give yourself.”

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley as Diana Vreeland.
“Diana was such an influential and powerful woman who changed fashion from the inside out”

Willow Smith as Kali.
“When I was little, I would go to my moms meditation room and read her books about goddesses.”

Lucky Blue as Liberache.
“I like Liberache. He’s cool, he’s blingy, he’s killing it. He’s rad”

Jessica Chastain as Joan of Arc.
“Individuality makes an icon. Joan of Arc inspires me because she fought against society’s constraints. She went against the grain.”
