Forget 007 – it’s all about 001.
As we know, International Makeup Artist Pat McGrath likes a bit of gold. We saw her golden girls at Prada’s Spring 2016 show in Milan last month where models wore a glistening shade of gold on their perfect painted lips. We were then teased with major Instagram hinting, with luxurious golden glitter being swirled around in a glass vial captioned ‘COMING SOON’. We also saw her makeup during Paris Fashion week at Tuileries with models wearing said twinkling gold on their eyes… so what is this mystery golden pigment?
As McGrath confirmed that she would be making her first makeup debut and selling a limited quantity of a one-off product…the countdown on social media began. Gold 001 was soon-to-be.
The time has arrived! Unveiled in full on Pat McGrath Labs, the product is a bold golden pigment, which is delivered alongside a spatula, a pro mixing liquid and a container to store your liquid gold in. McGrath describes the finish as “liquid-like, a gilded glaze of intense colour… like pure metal, foil, gilding, brilliance“.
On Thursday 29th October, the wait finally comes to an end and only one thousand pieces will be released for sale on the Pat McGrath website at 4pm, UK time.
Those lucky enough to get their hands on one of those highly enticing 1,000 eye shadows won’t be disappointed. The pigment can be dusted across skin as a microfine glitter, or blended with everything from body lotion to lipstick to clear brow gel to achieve a high-impact foil finish.
As if it didn’t get any better – it arrives buried inside a bag padded full of sparkling couture sequins. “I thought about how I would love to receive it—what would make me smile and what would bring a glow to my heart,” said McGrath.
If you don’t manage to get yourself one, don’t fret – McGrath is currently working on a full makeup collection due out in late 2016.
